Victor Felisberto says that “coming to the gastronomic capital of the world, especially a restaurant as highly regarded as Portal, gives me the perfect platform to display my flare and style of cooking.”
Portal restaurant has been sympathetically designed to combine the original architecture with new modern features by its co-owner, the world-renowned architect, Ken MacKay (designer of Ian Schrager’s “The Sanderson” & “St Martin’s Lane”). The building has taken a variety of roles throughout the years, playing host to both a paint shop and a warehouse. With the architecture dating back to the early 19th century, Mackay has beautifully restored Portal’s original exterior, as well as keeping some of it’s original features – windows, shelves and floors. The interior at Portal is contemporary yet it still retains the elegance of its original Grade II Listed status. It effortlessly incorporates the brick and dark stain wood of the listed architecture withfresh open spaces, lit glass and stainless steel to entice the customers and provide a generously warm and welcoming feel.
